Cardassians have been my crush ever since the Chain of Command ep in TNG. *picardnakedpicardnaked* Ahem, their looks have an appeal similar to those of Nazi's. You know you hate them, but something inside of you cant help but love them.

I think the author Dan Abnett actually gave a little wink and a nod to Garak in his Gaunt's Ghosts novels.
There's a shady malcontent of a Major under the titular Colonel-Commissar Gaunt's command, who's publicly promised several times that he'll kill him some day for having had to conduct evacuation 'triage' when his homeworld of Tanith was unexpectedly laid waste from orbit. But he serves very well as a soldier, and before long seems to know the local criminal underbelly well whenever the Tanith First and Only get posted somewhere bew. He's described as being darkly handsome with a face like a snake. His name is Elim Rawyne.
Strip apart Garak, then scrape away the paint and burn off the serial numbers on his parts-- so to speak-- and you can reuse a lot of them to construct Major Rawne.
